Kanika Mittal – Woman Owned Wednesday

This week’s WOW woman is Kanika Mittal. She is the Founder and CEO of Taula Jewelry, a Singapore based company providing women with greater accessibility to affordable, high-quality luxury. From India, to Chicago and now to Singapore, her journey has been one of ‘listening to her heart’ and having the grit and determination to follow her dreams.

Kanika was a year ahead of me while I was pursuing my undergraduate degree back in India, a friend and someone I looked upto. Once she and I graduated, we went our separate ways, staying in touch on social media. Little did I know, about 6 years later, we would be neighbors in Chicago! Kanika completed her MBA in the US and was working for Discover at the time I met her in Chicago. Even then, she always talked about how she wanted to build her own business and something in the jewelry space. I could tell it was a “dream in making”. When she was expecting her first child, she decided to quit her corporate job to stay home with her new born and enjoy the experience but continued to volunteer as a business strategist for a non-profit in Chicago because she is not the one to sit idle. Shortly after, Kanika and her family moved to Singapore, to pursue a career opportunity for her husband. In Singapore, she went back to the corporate world and worked for Paypal and Visa while shaping up her dream. In 2015, she quit her very successful corporate career to launch Taula Jewelry.

They specifically offer a wide range to cater to customer tastes and preferences. Kanika designs the jewelry herself and curate through her suppliers. From their base in Singapore, they extend a global reach to women everywhere, in every stage of life. They currently sell via multiple channels and ship globally. If you are looking to buy Taula jewelry you can find it in department stores in Singapore, specifically, Isetan Scotts, Isetan Jurong, Tampines, Serangoon (periodic pop-ups). If you are an online shopper you can visit their website. Taula is also available on a number of online shopping portals such as Reebonz, Lazada and Tangs. If you are local to Singapore you can also walk into their boutique store in the jewelry hub of Singapore on Orchard Road.

Graphic 3 Must HavesIn its very short time span, Taula has had phenomenal success and has already received numerous laurels. They received the “Best Jewelry Brand – Silver Award” in the 2016 Singapore Brand Digital Excellence Awards, just after Cartier and ahead of brands such as Love & Co. and Lee Hwa Jewellery. Additionally, Kanika contributed her professional expertise as an honorary judge in the Inaugural Luxury Lifestyle Awards in 2016. Taula has also been covered by several reputed publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Expat Living, JPlus, Straits Times etc.

Kanika and Taula are such a phenomenal success story and I am so proud to have watched her journey! She has definitely made her mark in the jewellery space in such a short time. I am honestly awed by Kanika’s success. Amidst, the roaring success of Taula, she also had a second child! I may be speaking for a lot of you, but being able to “go-back” to work after a child and create a successful company is truly inspirational. This to me proves that Kanika does not bow down to life but rather embraces what life has to offer and makes the best of every phase of life. She is truly a WOW woman who not just wants, but goes all out to “have it all”. You are truly inspiring Kanika and I continue to look up to you. Wish you the very best for the future.
